Letter to Residents Regarding BBQ 2010

Residents of Caribbean Estates:
As we prepare for the staging of our second annual Barbeque on August 28, 2010, the Planning Committee continues to work assiduously to make us proud. We are seeking the indulgence of our fellow residents as we attempt to ameliorate one of our shortcomings from last year’s staging.

As some of you will remember the traffic congestion into Caribbean Estates went as far back as the bridge leading out to the Municipal Boulevard. Having reviewed several options proposed we have concluded that we cannot raise the main barrier granting free access; therefore the following was largely agreed upon:

  • On the evening of the event between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm we will operate the Bernard Lodge main gate as an entrance only
  • Two additional security personnel will be placed at the gate to coordinate this effort and to start the screening process before vehicles reach the main gate.
  • The Dunbleholden main gate will be used as exit only; directional arrows will be visible to indicate the options upon exit.
  • Entry will be granted with the presentation of a ticket at the main gate. If the main gate has no information regarding persons entering without a ticket, we will not grant entry. Normal visitors e.g. to residents’ home will be given normal access once the information is left at the main post.
  • Additional security personnel will be positioned along the Boulevard to ensure efficient use of the soft shoulder for parking.

We are asking for the support of residents in this exercise and we will ensure that the one-way facility be lifted promptly at 8:00 pm.
Another area of weakness was the serving of food with respect to the long queue Please note that to alleviate this discomfort the new caterers will be providing four serving stations.

Please lend us your support as the team once again makes Caribbean Estate Barbeque the standard of community event.

Kind Regards,

Andrew Castro
